Starting out as a small recreational boating show in 1956, the Houston International Boat Show has grown exponentially over the years. Running from January 4th to the 13th, this year’s offerings will showcase a wide variety of products as well as special exhibits. The boat show appeals to boating enthusiasts and landlubbers alike. Here are some highlights to check out at this year’s show:
The Main Attraction
With 350 exhibitors displaying everything from sleek docking systems to the latest high tech marine gadgetry, the boat show is the ideal place to get a peek at the latest cutting-edge gear. In addition to boats and boat accessories, the show welcomes exhibitors who demonstrate a variety of recreational vehicles and accessories. This means campers and other outdoor enthusiasts will have plenty to explore at the show as well. The boat show’s full listing of exhibitors expands daily.
Reliving the Golden Age of Boating
Sponsored by the Southwest chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society, this year’s exhibit of lovingly restored vintage boats will appeal to those interested in historic preservation. These elegant crafts feature beautifully varnished hardwoods, carefully preserved leather, and polished chrome. Visit this year’s display to learn more about these gorgeous antiques.
The Raptor Project
The Raptor Project is a premier wildlife education program. The stunning birds on display range in size from small falcons to large eagles with massive wingspans. Many of the birds were brought to master falconer Jonathan Wood by wildlife centers because they could not be introduced into the wild. Thanks to the program, these birds have been given a second chance at life. Jonathan offers his expert observations and insights as part of his nationally acclaimed show.
